Kenai Fjords Foundation Statement Open for Comment

Kenai Fjords National Park has released the Foundation Statement for Kenai Fjords National Park and is looking for public feedback.

Its purpose is to articulate the purposes for which the park unit was established and identify what is most important about that unit. The statement also aims at identifying key themes and mandates, citing historical and current issues surrounding the park. The document can be accessed online and the park welcomes any feedback by February 17.

Zion Seeks Volunteers for Wilderness Word Day

In March 2009, President Obama signed a bill designating over 80% of Zion National Park as wilderness. In celebration of the new designation, the park is looking for volunteers to assist during a Wilderness Work Day.

Wilderness Work Day will be held on February 19 and consists of two parts. During the first, from Noon-4 p.m., volunteers will work with park staff to mark the park’s boundary on the steep rugged hillsides east of Springdale. Then from 4-6 p.m., 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a free barbecue will be held for volunteers any any other visitors who wish to partake.

Going to Zion National Park This Summer? Be Aware of Work on the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway

If you're planning to visit Zion National Park this summer, the route you choose will make a big difference in your trip. Visitors entering via the park's South entrance won't be affected, but travelers using the East Entrance and the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway will find some delays and closures.
