A flag that flew during a Civil War battle at Gettysburg, along with the dress coat and sash of a Union officer killed in battle, will go on display at Gettysburg National Military Park in July.

Three objects items will be exhibited beginning July 16 at the park's museum thanks to a contribution from a group of miniaturists and artists.

The term "living history" is often applied to programs using costumed interpreters, but it can also have another, more literal application: historic orchards.

The term "living history" is often applied to programs using costumed interpreters, but it can also have another, more literal application: historic orchards. A recent project at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area used some sharp instruments to apply some tender loving pruning to historic apple trees in the park.

A rugged area of steep cliffs, deep gullies and massive boulders known as Devil's Den is now part of Gettysburg National Military Park. It was the site major fighting in 1863, but in recent years the historic scene was marred by power lines and a restroom. That's about to change thanks to an upcoming project in the park.
